Absorbing in the Heat

People love Las Vegas. People love the heat in Las Vegas--40+ degree weather. The latter sentiment I have yet to understand fully. But then...I hail from a cooler climate.

One of the nicest aspects about self-employment as an editor and web designer is the ability to work from anywhere. Including somewhere outside where the breeze offsets the warmth of the sun's rays and where a really large tree that is perfect for grabbing a blanket and sitting under to run through a first draft stands. It does make for a more enjoyable work day devoid of artificial and recirculated air, white walls.

Unfortunately, the heat in Nevada makes this difficult. The most enjoyment from outdoors when temperatures are above 35 degrees comes at nighttime or by looking through the window during the day.

As nature provides, for me at least, an ongoing break from stressors and work and rejuvenation, the difficult thing is to find moments to relax in order to continue to put the best foot forward. All I want to do is to be able to take a walk and absorb and process all the information I have read without being around crowds or distractions or moulting.

So, how does one break up the monotony, give rest to weary eyes and step-back from pages of words or a web page design that does not look quite right? Baking! But..it's can be hard to find new people to feed cupcakes too.
